The determination of whether you should purchase travel insurance is a determination of whether you want to assume nothing bad can happen during your travels, or whether should something bad happen you can adequately resolve these unforeseen events.

None of us think something bad will happen. We assume incorrectly that fire, flood, earthquake and terrorism will happen to others. We assume we won’t have a heart attack or stroke, we won’t be felled by illness. We assume wrong.

The question, “should you purchase travel insurance” is perhaps answered by asking yourself why you purchased homeowners insurance, or medical insurance or life insurance. You purchased them so that your consistent small payments would assure you of having someone else provide help in case of a catastrophic event for which you are unprepared. Purchasing travel insurance, just like purchasing any other insurance, is not just about receiving the funds to recover. Why You Should Always Choose Travel Insurance

Imagine landing on your dream location in all smiles with your favourite outfit, and then without warning you are  approached by the robber who boldly sticks a gun in your face and demands all your luggages and money. You are tempted a hold back a few pounds, but then you rationalize that for the sake of your life you had better hand him all of your money. As you come to your senses while the unscrupulous individual runs off, you are haunted by a few stabbing truths: you are broke, without a phone,  without clothes and identification.

The above description  might seem like a common scene from action films, but this scenario can happen to just about anyone at any time, and thus reiterates the importance of travel insurance when  going to foreign soils. Travel insurance should, therefore, not be seen as a casual ‘clothes item’ that is thrown in one’s luggage without careful planning. In other words it is not an optional item; it is a must have to offer security against any unfavourable situation that can be induced due to robbery, loss, death, sickness, etc.
